Genre Conventions

The form is a music video, also, the genres of my song is rock/metal (taken from album information on iTunes), and my music video genre is horror. Below are conventions of both the music genre and the video genre.

With the music genre of rock/ metal, due to common stereotypes of the genre, its expected that a lot of dark imagery should be used. The lighting shouldn't be bright, the kind of colours used should be black, grey, red(bloody red), and normally with these kind of bands the symbolism tends to be satanic and have very evil connotations. So images such as pentagrams could be shown. Also, in music videos of this genre, there tends to be shots of the performers on whatever instruments they play in the song.

For example, in Avenged Sevenfold's music video for Shepherd of Fire, there are shots of the band performing in red lighting.

Also, as the genre of my music video is horror, the editing could include some jump cuts, typical of most things that fall into the horror genre. Its intention is to startle the audience and create a sense of unease. Also in the horror genre, shocking imagery is generally used. So, for example, as my video is about zombies there could be bloody imagery, the zombies feeding and other shocking imagery.
